The Vindhyavasini Devi Temple
The Vindhyavasini Devi Temple is situated on the banks of the River Ganges and is a famous Shakti Peeth of Goddess Kali. The idol of Goddess Kali is also known as Kajala Devi, who is believed to be an embodiment of benediction and love. Navaratri (April and October) is celebrated at the temple with fervour. The town is well-known for the celebrated temple of Vindhyavasini through which Ganga passes sharing the divinity established here. Pilgrims coming to Banaras on road more often than not cover the destination as a part of their pilgrimage. Devi temple being just 8 Km away from Mirzapur, becomes a centre of holy expedition and devotee-pullers from different corners of India.
